Early treatment has the best chance of preserving motion and avoiding the need for bone graft. Congenital bipartite scaphoid can mimic chronic scaphoid pseudarthrosis but may be distinguished by MRI documentation of cartilage rather than fibrous tissue at the presumed fracture site.
