Results of tendon reconstruction Discussion
Results of elective surgery for tendon reconstruction are difficult to
predict, but in general are less favorable when other problems limiting
motion are present. Preoperative conditions may be classified as follows
(Boyes classification), with higher numbers predicting a worse end result.
1 Good
2 Scar (soft tissue requiring excision)
3 Joint (scar and joint contracture)
4 Nerve (scar and nerve injury)
5 Multiple (scar, joint and nerve, or multiple digit injuries with at
least grade 3 status)
